Suicide Prevention: Words that Save Lives
With Brett Cotter
November 9, 2025
A Training Program for Mental Health Professionals
RETREAT BY INVITED PRESENTER
When a client is in crisis—and especially if they are suicidal—it is critical that your instinctual response is correct. Join Brett Cotter, Stress Is Gone founder, as he shares specialized techniques to gently guide your clients from extreme stress to inner-peace and happiness, while preserving your own ability to stay centered and avoid overwhelm.
The program will unfurl over three Sunday afternoons:
- November 9: Body language techniques that allow the other person to feel safe enough to express their deepest pain
- November 16: What to say and how to say it to surface and release the deeper issues
- December 7: How to break free from empathy fatigue and caregiver burnout
Through traditional teaching and experiential learning—including partner role-playing—you will gain tools you can use immediately to support your clients who are dealing with complicated grief.
“As a clinician, it was impressive feeling my own stress lift out of my body.”
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Each afternoon will be an interactive learning experience, taking a deep dive into one of the three core parts of the curricula. Through teaching and Q&A, small group discussion and role-playing, you will learn:
- Realtime self-regulation technique to reduce burnout and empathy fatigue

- 5 prompts to surface the core issue fueling the ideation
- Method to remain present while listening to your patient’s pain
- Breathwork technique to help patients release emotional pain
- Tricks to unlock stuck emotions from various parts of the body
- Clear framework to manage conversations that incorporate suicidal ideation
You will gain critical new skills and increased confidence—which together can help you save lives.
